Keyword Research: A Simple Beginner Workflow
Good keyword research starts with understanding the audience, not collecting hundreds of random phrases.
1. Choose a topic
Start with the problem your website solves. List the products, services, questions and outcomes your audience cares about.
2. Expand the topic
Turn each topic into specific queries. Include informational, commercial and navigational variations when they fit your site.
3. Group by intent
Cluster keywords that can be answered by the same page. This prevents creating many thin pages that compete with one another.
4. Prioritize
Consider relevance, competition, business value and whether your site can create a genuinely better result than existing pages.
Remember: One excellent page targeting a clear intent is usually better than several shallow pages.
